Grant Notley killed in Wapiti crash
Alberta NDP leader and Leader of the Opposition Grant Notley was killed on October 19, 1984, when Wapiti Aviation Flight 402, a Piper Navajo Chieftain flying from Edmonton to Peace River, crashed in forest near High Prairie; six of the ten aboard died. Notley was the father of future premier Rachel Notley.
