Terms of Use
Last updated: August 5, 2026
By using Alberta Daily you agree to these terms. They are short and written in plain English, so please read them.
Content is provided as-is
Alberta Daily is an aggregation site. News summaries are written by AI, and weather and event listings are relayed from third-party sources. All of it is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Summaries may contain errors. AI-written summaries can misstate details, and stories develop after we publish. Weather forecasts change; events get cancelled, moved, or repriced. Always verify anything you plan to act on with the original source, which is linked from every story, listing, and forecast.
Live data is not an emergency service
Parts of this site show near-real-time information — road closures, wildfires, weather alerts, air quality, and emergency alerts — relayed from official sources. That data can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and our maps and dashboards can lag or fail entirely.
Never rely on this site for decisions that affect your safety. In an emergency, call 911. For authoritative information, go directly to the official channels: Alberta Emergency Alert for emergencies, 511 Alberta for road conditions, and Environment and Climate Change Canada for weather warnings.
The same applies to the optional location feature. The position it uses is deliberately coarse — rounded to about a kilometre — and it comes from your browser, which can be wrong, stale, or unavailable indoors. Treat the “closest to you” weather and the dot on the maps as a convenience for orientation only. It is not navigation, it is not a safety tool, and the nearest town shown may not be the one you are actually standing in.
Your browser preferences
Some features remember a choice in your browser: the region you pick, your answer to the cookie banner, the live maps you pin, and — only if you switch it on — an approximate location. All of it stays on your device, you can undo any of it at any time, and the site works without any of it.
What we store, why, and step-by-step instructions for clearing each one (including revoking location permission in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) are set out in the privacy policy.
External links
Nearly everything on this site links out — to news outlets, ticket sellers, venues, and government weather services. Those sites are operated by third parties we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, terms, or privacy practices, and a link does not imply endorsement. Purchases (such as event tickets) made on external sites are strictly between you and that site.
The newsletter
The Alberta Daily briefing is free. By subscribing you agree to receive it by email; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every issue, and we may pause or discontinue the newsletter at our discretion. How we handle your email address is covered in the privacy policy.
Intellectual property
Our summaries are original wording created for this site, and the site's design and compilation belong to Alberta Daily. The underlying facts and reporting belong to the journalists and outlets we credit — original articles remain the property of their publishers, and our editorial policy explains how we credit them.
You are welcome to share links to our pages, and our RSS feed exists so you can read us in your feed reader — personal use is welcome. Please do not republish our content wholesale, repackage the feed into another publication, or present our content as your own.
Acceptable use
Do not use this site in a way that disrupts it for others — including attempting to breach its security, overwhelming it with automated traffic, or interfering with the advertising that funds it — and do not use it for anything unlawful. You are responsible for your use of the site; if your misuse of it causes a claim against us, the costs of that claim are yours.
Liability and availability
Alberta Daily is free to use. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content, including decisions made in reliance on it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability; nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
We may change, suspend, or retire any part of the site — features, feeds, maps, or the newsletter — at any time without notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising from your use of this site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. Questions? Email hello@albertadaily.ca.
