Klein wins PC leadership
Ralph Klein defeated Nancy Betkowski 46,245 votes to 31,722 on the second ballot to win the leadership of Alberta's Progressive Conservative party. Nine days later he was sworn in as Alberta's 12th premier, an office he held until 2006.
