Red Deer's 65th Coats 4 Kids campaign distributing winter gear this week
The Red Deer Christmas Bureau Society is handing out donated coats and winter items to local families in need as colder weather sets in.
Why it matters
The campaign helps local families access warm winter clothing for free as cold weather arrives.
The Red Deer Christmas Bureau Society began distributing donated winter gear on Oct. 19 as part of its 65th annual Coats 4 Kids campaign, with distribution continuing through Oct. 23 this week.
Families can pick up items at the Bureau's location at 4630-61 Street. A second distribution window runs from Monday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 31, with hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Donated items available include coats, mitts, gloves, toques, scarves, and ski pants. No appointment is needed, and jackets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one per client.
Clients seeking a jacket must provide an Alberta Health Card and proof of address at the time of pickup.
