Medicine Hat, Grasslands trustees re-elected to provincial school boards group

Southeastern Alberta retains two seats on the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta's six-member executive after the group's annual meeting.

Pat Grisonich of Medicine Hat Public School Division will continue as vice-president of the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta, while Melanie Reed-Zukowski of Grasslands Public Schools remains first director, following board elections held Oct. 16 at the association's annual general meeting.

The six-member board represents 28 public school boards across the province and works throughout the year to support member divisions, providing professional development and resources for trustees and administrators. Association president Lorraine Stewart of Parkland School Division said she was encouraged by the engagement from member school boards and thanked candidates for putting their names forward.

The rest of the board includes Donna Koch of Grande Prairie Public School Division as second director, who was acclaimed to her position, Tim O'Hara of Fort McMurray Public Schools as third director after winning an election, and Jan Sawyer of Edmonton Public Schools as director. The association renamed the first and second vice-president titles to vice-president and third director last year.

Koch said her work chairing the professional development committee has focused on expanding learning opportunities for trustees and senior administrators, with plans to improve existing modules and explore new training approaches. O'Hara said his background in student transportation and economic development will support his work on behalf of association members.
