Kraken rout Flames 6-1 as Calgary remains winless to start season
Seattle scored three times in the first eight minutes and cruised to a second win over Calgary this season. Dustin Wolf has now allowed 12 goals in his first two starts, both against the Kraken.
The Seattle Kraken defeated the Calgary Flames 6-1 on Sunday night in Seattle's home opener, with Berkly Catton, Mackie Samoskevich and Bobby McMann all scoring within the first eight minutes. Samoskevich added a second goal late in the second period, while Shane Wright and Jordan Eberle also found the net for Seattle. Goaltender Joey Daccord made 32 saves.
Morgan Frost scored Calgary's lone goal on the power play with 5:35 remaining, spoiling Daccord's shutout bid. It marked the first power-play goal conceded by the Kraken this season. Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf stopped 21 shots but has now given up 12 goals across his first two starts, both losses to Seattle.
The result leaves the Flames winless through their opening games. Seattle improved to 2-1-0 after beating Calgary for the second time this season; six different Kraken skaters had scored in Thursday's earlier meeting between the clubs. The teams are scheduled to play once more this month, on Oct. 30.
Calgary next hosts the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, while Seattle hosts the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
