Lethbridge Polytechnic hosts 7th annual InnoFusion AI conference

Students, employers and industry partners gathered at the Cave on the Lethbridge Polytechnic campus to discuss how artificial intelligence is reshaping the workforce.

Lethbridge Polytechnic, the University of Lethbridge and the Regional Innovation Network of South Alberta co-hosted the seventh annual InnoFusion Conference on Oct. 2, 2026, at the Cave on the Polytechnic campus. The event ran from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. under the theme "The AI Shift: How the Future Workforce and Employers Can Thrive Together."

RWI Synthetics founder and CEO Myrna Bittner delivered the keynote address, speaking about how her company has used AI to model disaster responses and support population planning.

Josh Leith, AgENT program co-ordinator at the Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, said AI is reshaping what students need to prepare for as they enter the workforce, pointing to Bittner's use of AI for geo-mapping as an example for students and industry partners to build on. Luc Roberts, program director at the University of Lethbridge's Agility, said the conference gave students a chance to network with industry and hear directly from employers about what they look for in new hires.
