Grande Prairie-area courts hand down sentences in stolen semi, Peace River gun cases

Alberta Justice released updates on five separate cases from the Peace region, ranging from jail terms to withdrawn charges.

Rory Jordan Serna of Myrnam pleaded guilty in Grande Prairie court to possession of stolen property over $5,000 and flight from a peace officer, receiving a 365-day jail sentence. The charges stemmed from a July 23, 2025 report of a stolen fuel truck and trailer that was driven erratically before being stopped with tire deflation devices; the driver was caught with help from a police dog.

In Peace River, Freddie Nanooch received a 120-day sentence after pleading guilty to pointing a firearm, unauthorized weapons possession, resisting a peace officer and other charges. RCMP had received three calls in June 2026 reporting a man pointing a gun at people while walking along a road.

Alexis Julius Okemow of Peerless Lake was sentenced to 240 days in Red Earth Creek court after pleading guilty to assault with a weapon, following an April 2026 incident where a man reported being stabbed at and punched.

Separately, all charges were withdrawn against Jacob Blid and Johnathon Anderson of Grande Prairie in a case involving roughly $300,000 in stolen property recovered near Sturgeon Lake, including a front-end loader and gooseneck trailer. Charges were also withdrawn against Krista Healy, Holly Breland and Christopher Lindgren, who were arrested in June 2025 after a stolen truck stop in Clairmont led to the seizure of a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
